On Friday the boys decided that they wanted to go ride the choo choo at a local park. I am on a nifty- thrifty kick and the train does cost about $6 for all of us, but we hadn't been in a while so I thought it would be a nice treat for the boys.
As usual, they loved it. They were delighted to discover that I had brought along their conductor hats and were thrilled when the actual conductor complimented them.
I packed us a lunch so we wouldn't be tempted to hit the snack bar or swing by the drive-thru of our favorite sub shop on the way home.
I thought I had packed too much food but they ate it all and asked for more.
Have I mentioned that they are having a growth spurt?
There was some sort of event going on at the park so I had to park far away and run frantically to the choo-choo.
Choo choo?? They said worriedly as I rushed to make it. Yes, baby. Choo choo.
The thought of disappointing them made my stomach churn. I was so relieved to finally get on that train, out of breath and panting.
On the way back to the car I snapped some pictures of some bluebonnets, the Texas flower.
I love this time of year when they burst from the ground, pretty and bright...before it gets so hot that the sun scorches them to a charred and dusty shell of their former selves.
I wanted to get the obligatory kids-in-the-bluebonnets shot but the boys just reached down and snatched them from their stroller.
Uh-oh...is it illegal to pick bluebonnets?? I wasn't taking any chances, I tossed the camera in my bag and hightailed it out of there.
It was hotter than I had expected and I was dressed all wrong in jeans and a three-quarter sleeved t-shirt.
I couldn't wait to get home and put on some cooler clothes.
Texas weather, you foiled me again.
